Jesse Payne is an award-winning artist and educator with over twenty years of teaching experience, currently serving as Associate Professor and Head of Drawing Studio Curriculum at VCUarts Qatar. A two-time recipient of the Distinguished Achievement in Teaching Excellence Award (2012, 2025), he has built a teaching practice rooted in the belief that the studio and the classroom exist in continuous dialogue—each one feeding the other. His exhibition record spans three solo exhibitions, four consecutive juried acceptances at Manifest Gallery, and inclusion in "Majaz: Contemporary Art Qatar" at the Mathaf Museum of Modern Art.

In the studio, his recent work explores disrupted portals—visual and psychological thresholds that dissolve the boundary between figuration and abstraction—with fifty new works produced across five series in 2025–26 alone. He pioneered AI integration at VCUarts Qatar through the IDEA Fund–supported course "Artistic Intelligence," delivered the keynote-level presentation "AI.Vant-Garde" at Northwestern University in Qatar, and continues to develop curriculum that bridges traditional practice with emerging technologies.
