Paintings and drawings from nighttime explorations of disappearing Doha cityscapes — documenting overlooked neighborhoods and architectural icons before they vanish under rapid modernization. 2018–2019.
Doha is a city in constant transformation — historic neighborhoods quietly vanishing under the pace of modernization. This series began with extensive nighttime fieldwork, moving through these disappearing enclaves to capture the vibrant colors, moods, and architectural character that exist only after dark. The resulting paintings and drawings record what daylight development erases — a portrait of a city caught between its past and its future. Funded by a Faculty Research Grant and exhibited as a peer-reviewed solo exhibition at VCUarts Qatar Project Space in 2019.
