Eighty years of sensors returned a smudge. I went closer.
The orb is the most reported object in the government’s declassified record. Pilots describe it, sensors smear it, forensic enhancement dissolves it; a 1953 Navy analysis, after measuring a film frame by frame, concluded only that “these images are light sources.” These paintings attempt what every witness describes and no instrument has ever delivered: the close approach. Each canvas holds a single luminous body at the range no camera achieved — the multicolored combustion a distant point of light was hiding. The titles are quoted verbatim from the declassified documents — a Navy laboratory’s measurement, a federal agent’s testimony — because the gap between that language and this light is the subject.
